Register to Vote

Are you registered to vote? Do you need to change your address, your name?

In Texas:

If you are not already registered to vote at your current address, the deadline to register to vote is 30 days in advance of an election. To be eligible to register in Texas, you must:

• be a U.S. citizen;
• be a resident of the county;
• be 18 years old (you may register at 17 years and 10 months);
• not a convicted felon (unless a person's sentence is completed, including any probation or parole)
• not declared mentally incapacitated by a court of law

To check your registration or obtain a registration form, contact the Lubbock County Office of Elections and Voter Registration, 775-1339, 1308 Crickets Ave. (formerly Ave. G) A registration form can be downloaded from http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/voter/reqvr.shtml. In Lubbock County it should be mailed to:

The completed registration form must be received or postmarked 30 days in advance to vote in an election.

To change your name or address within Lubbock County, contact the Lubbock county Elections Administrator at 775-1339, 1308 Crickets Avenue. Changes within Lubbock County can be made online at http://www.texasonline.state.tx.us/NASApp/sos/SOSACManager.

Voter registration in Texas is by County. You must reregister if you move to a different county.

For registration in other states, go to http://www.lwv.org/RegisterToVote/.

CITY ELECTION

There will be a City Election on May 10, 2008. Your last day to register to vote in this election will be April 10, 2008. Early voting will run from April 28, 2008 - May 6, 2008. More important dates: the first day to apply for a Ballot by Mail is March 11, 2008 and the last day you can apply for one is May 2, 2008.
